AMC-MECANOCAUCHO® DEVELOPS THE NEW VIBRABSORBER VISCO-ELASTIC SPRING WITH ADJUSTABLE DAMPING

NEW VIBRABSORBER VISCO-ELASTIC SPRING.

NEW VIBRABSORBER VISCO-ELASTIC SPRING.

These anti vibration mounts are tailored for each application, allowing adjustment to achieve the optimum performance.

The Vibrabsorber + Sylomer® with adjustable damping system is composed of a damping chamber where the piston can allow more or less viscous fluid transmission. The damping fluid is composed of a viscous thermostable elastomer, while the rubber membrane bonded to the metal avoids leakages of fluid.

The dynamic stiffness and the loss angle of this anti vibration mount depend on the amplitude and on how open the piston orifices are. The open area available for the fluid to go through can be adjusted by rotating the discs of the piston, adjusting the damping of the system. This rotation is achieved by turning the central bolt from Minimum to Maximum.

This anti vibration mount incorporates Sylomer® buffers to limit the maximum vertical displacement of the suspended equipment.

Furthermore, the base of the spring includes a Sylomer® layer to reduce the transmission of high frequency vibrations and structural borne noise that can be transmitted through the coil springs.

This Vibrabsorber anti vibration mount is tailored for each application, and their static stiffness and minimum and maximum dynamic stiffness and loss angle at each amplitude can be set to reach the optimum values for the application.

The model below is an example of a customized visco-elastic spring with adjustable damping:

It was developed for a metal crushing machine with specific requirements in terms of vibration behaviour:

A vibration measurement was carried out to measure the amplitude of the vibration with maximum damping and with minimum damping.

The results of these measurements are shown below:

Maximum damping, peaks +0,7mm/-0,8mm:

Minimum damping, peaks +4mm/-2,5mm:

The charts above show the advantage of tuning the damping to change the behaviour of the system.

An anti vibration mount with high damping improves the stability of the suspended system, which is especially important when the system passes across any of its natural frequencies or is subject to shock inputs. However, as the dynamic stiffness of the system is also increased, the vibration isolation can also be reduced, particularly if the amplitudes of the vibration are important.

Thank to this feature, the final operator can regulate the damping to achieve the optimum ratio between vibration isolation and stability.

The curves below are an example of the values obtained for this model, which can withstand static loads up to 40 Ton:
