The use of heat pumps in buildings is experiencing remarkable growth, especially in rooftop installations. This poses a major challenge: isolating the vibrations and noise that these units transmit to the structure.
In this type of application, one of the most commonly used solutions are the Rubber Foot mounts, widely appreciated for their ease of installation, low cost, and ability to provide good load distribution on rooftops and surfaces that can be critical thanks to their large footprint geometry.
However, these mounts present an important limitation: their stiffness is not always precisely known, and therefore neither are the natural frequencies they generate in the installation.
This becomes a critical factor when analyzing the vibratory behavior of heat pumps. These units often operate with excitation frequencies around 20–25 Hz, a range in which such rigid mounts fail to provide effective isolation. In many cases, this can even lead to resonance phenomena, amplifying vibrations instead of attenuating them.
In order to address this issue, AMC-MECANOCAUCHO® recommends the use of the Medium Series springs as a solution, specifically designed to provide effective isolation against low frequencies.
These mounts cover a very wide load range, from 0 kg to 150 kg, and are designed to work with high deflections (up to 16–17 mm), which translates into much lower natural frequencies than those of Rubber Foot mounts. This results in a very high and effective isolation against low-frequency vibrations, typical of heat pumps.
Another advantage of these springs is their ease of installation, making them highly valued both by installers and engineering firms, looking for practical and high-performance solutions.
With the aim of further facilitate their installation and combine them with Rubber Foot mounts, AMC-MECANOCAUCHO® has developed a new metal base that allows the Medium Series springs to be easily fixed directly onto Rubber Foot mounts.
This new metal base maintains the concept of the previous version (ref. 612014) introducing a key improvement: the mounting holes are now designed for M10 bolts, ensuring a more robust attachment and compatibility with standard market systems.
In this way, the new base extends the range of mounting options and simplifies the installer’s work. With this addition, we offer even greater versatility to adapt Medium Series springs to different environments and installation requirements.
The result is a hybrid, practical, and efficient solution that responds to the growing demand for quiet and sustainable installations in residential and commercial buildings.
