AMC-MECANOCAUCHO® has collaborated with Malvicino Design Group in the acoustic isolation of Sony 5020 Studios Madrid, one of the most advanced recording studio complexes in Spain.
Information about the project
Sony 5020 Studios Madrid is the new creative hub developed by Sony Music in the Spanish capital. The facility has been conceived as a multidisciplinary space for artists, producers, sound engineers and content creators, combining recording studios, production rooms, content creation areas, lounges, workspaces and event areas.
The studio is built in Albarracin street of Madrid, in a building that was previously used as an office building with a gym in the ground-level floor. Therefore, it was refurbished from scratch to house the recording studio.
The studio follows the philosophy of the 5020 Studios network, creating a space where artists can write, record, produce, collaborate and share ideas in an environment designed to encourage creativity. For a facility of this type, acoustic comfort and vibration isolation are essential, since the rooms must provide very low background noise levels while avoiding the transmission of structure-borne noise between adjacent areas.
Acoustic design by Malvicino Design Group
The acoustic design of the project was carried out by Malvicino Design Group, led by Horacio Malvicino, a company with extensive experience in the design and integration of professional recording studios and post-production spaces.
During the execution phase, AMC-MECANOCAUCHO® worked together with Malvicino Design Group to define and implement the required vibration isolation solutions. This collaboration made it possible to adapt the acoustic products to the specific construction details of the project, considering the available space, the loads to be supported and the acoustic performance required in the different rooms.
AMC-MECANOCAUCHO® acoustic solutions
Recording studios are extremely sensitive to vibration and structure-borne noise. For this reason, the different construction elements must be elastically decoupled from the main structure of the building.
In this project, AMC-MECANOCAUCHO® solutions were used for the isolation of suspended ceilings and other construction elements, helping to reduce the transmission of vibration through rigid connections.
Calculations are performed to select the most suitable product for each case, which are installed with a specific spacing between them.
In addition to floor mounts, EP 500 + Sylomer® wall mounts, EP 400 + Sylomer® wall ties and VT ceiling spring hangers were also used for the decoupling of the wall and the ceiling.
Sylomer® is a microcellular polyurethane especially conceived for the isolation of structure-borne noise. Integrated into the AMC-MECANOCAUCHO® products, it provides an effective and reliable solution for acoustic applications where a high level of decoupling is required.
Technical support during installation
The technical team of AMC-MECANOCAUCHO® supported the project during the execution phase, providing advice on product selection and installation criteria. This type of support is especially important in recording studio projects, where small acoustic bridges can have a significant effect on the final performance of the room.
The collaboration between Malvicino Design Group and AMC-MECANOCAUCHO® helped ensure that the isolation systems were correctly integrated into the construction, contributing to the acoustic performance required by a professional studio complex of this level.

Sony 5020 Studios Madrid is now a reference creative space for the music industry in Spain and a key facility for the connection between artists from Europe and Latin America.
