AMC MECANOCAUCHO OBTAINS FEDER GRANTS FROM EU & BASQUE GOVERNMENT FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF MINIRIDE AND ISOWARE + PROJECTS
The EU grant is recognition of AMC Mecanocaucho's work and the potential of the MINIRIDE and ISOWARE project to contribute to sustainable and environmental development. The project also represents an opportunity to generate skilled employment and to foster collaboration between companies, universities and technology centres. AMC Mecanocaucho hopes that the results of the project can be applied to other types of vehicles and other industrial sectors, such as the railway, naval and wind energy sectors.
MINIRIDE
The development and constant evolution and sophistication of industrial machinery has brought with it an ever-increasing demand for systems that reduce the noise and vibration level of any type of equipment used by humans. The sophistication comes hand in hand with a development race between companies competing to bring to market their products developed with ever increasing demands, but at the same time shortening the development time in order to be ahead of the competition in the market launch of new models.
The MiniRide system is a robust field data capture system designed to provide the technical department with a complete test system. It includes several sensors and acquisition cards that allow data to be recorded and output directly to a remote server capable of processing the data for further analysis.
In summary, the goal of developing hardware for field data capture is to provide an effective solution for critical data collection to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of AMC's vibration dampers and systems. This system also helps our customers to understand the durability of their vibration dampers, we have an added benefit in that knowledge of actual working conditions and their response will allow us to improve the design of future vibration dampers to make them perform better and more reliably.
ISOWIRE +
In previous years, AMC has developed an accelerometer, the Vibration Isolator PRO Accelerometer, which by means of a standard USB cable and additional adapters, allows the accelerometer to be connected to different mobile devices on the market. This device works for both for Android and iOS systems, using an audio transmission protocol as a communication channel between the phone and the accelerometer's microphone.
This is a totally innovative system for AMC and for the global market as a vibration measurement solution, optimising its internal processes by reducing the travel time of its technicians and engineers to customer sites.
But with the incorporation of new models of mobile devices, it has been detected that the accelerometer has stopped working in some of them.
A more in-depth analysis of the problem has shown that the cause is associated with the noise cancellation that has been integrated into most of the latest mobile phones launched on the market, as it acts on the audio channel, deleting any additional information that goes through it. This leaves the accelerometer unable to communicate and prevents it from transmitting the information of the measurement taken.
The design and development of a new system is required that is compatible with all types of mobile devices by means of a new wireless communication protocol. This system is more versatile and allows it to be positioned/introduced in new, more complex to access locations that require vibration measurements, always maintaining compatibility with the operating systems on the market (Android and IOs).
